What is Journalism?

A good journalist participates in timely investigative reporting and the unbiased presentation of important events and issues to keep the public informed. Journalism means covering every story and uncovering every hidden detail. True, “hard-hitting” journalism is uncovering an important story before anyone else. Although that definition of journalism has relatively stayed the same over time, how journalism is presented has changed. No longer does the news have to be professional. Citizen-journalists can communicate news through new forums such as Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. This new way of communicating does change how audiences perceive the news and is revolutionizing how journalism will be presented in the future.
